“You keep the plant alive and well and thriving; that’s the main goal—but there’s an artistic approach to it. It’s always growing and developing, and we change our design to meet the needs of that particular tree.
“We call it living art because the tree is never really finished.”
—Robert Reed, Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs (Retired)
Editor’s note:
As Robert Reed prepares to retire on June 30, we cannot imagine a more perfect representation of his 36-year service than the image and statement above. He cares for each and every needle of his trees as much as he cares for their overall growth and movement. Just the same, he took his impact on individual members of Loyola’s staff, faculty, and student body as seriously as his dedication to the university’s overall development.
It is a true honor to feature our good friend whose patient, dedicated, and meticulous service has kept Loyola growing and thriving for more than three decades.
